Current Royal Advisors to the Crown

Royal Advisor to History Pickett Randolph

Born the second of four children to Thorn and Juniper Randolph, Pickett Randolph served first in the Royal Academy, where she taught Ampanian History and Political Science. She was raised in Lakepost, near the town center, and still considers her family house her true home, despite having lived in Kingston Palace for over forty years. Hand-selected by previous Advisor to History Humpfrey Bordone for her popularity and sharpness, she has proven a wise administrator and eager diplomat for King Raul Tordault in her tenure. She is unmarried and has no children to her name (but there is plenty of Randolph family to share.) Pickett is the current Senior Advisor.

Royal Advisor to Tactics Nehemiah Smedley

Nehemiah Smedley is the eldest child of Edan and Anji Smedley. The family moved from Sudapor to Kingston shortly after Nehemiah’s birth, in the hopes that the larger city could host more opportunities for a growing family. Two children later, however, this proved not to be the case, and financial instability forced them back to their relatives in the south. Nehemiah was nearly thirteen at the time, and applied for schooling at the Royal Academy. The scholarship he earned allowed him to stay in the city through his graduation. While he coincidentally struck up a close friendship with King Raul Tordault during their schooling, his quick intelligence and gift for language bid the king tap him for the Advisor position vacated by George Merkal, when Merkal’s choice of successor proved unequal to the post. Nehemiah Smedley is married to Amna Smedley (née Zampieri) of the Royal Academy. Together, they have one son, Malik, who works for the palace as an ambassador.

Royal Advisor to Magic Eleanor Smedley

Eleanor Smedley (née Muggeridge) was raised in the central mountains, just north of the plateau pass, but she hardly remembers the house there. Her childhood was spent traveling with her mother, and later her sister Patricia, as a casting prodigy. At fourteen, she was pulled from the show by then-Advisor to Magic Henry Hotspur, to be his assistant. She has lived in Kingston Palace ever since. She formally assumed the Advisor post at twenty-three, the second youngest Advisor ever appointed, (the youngest being Advisor Skipper Dolittle, two hundred and ninety years ago, who proved to be an incompetent idiot.) She is married to Malik Smedley, the son of her fellow Advisor Nehemiah Smedley.

Current Royalty

His Royal Highness Raul Tordault

The only son of Alderic and Layla Tordault, King Raul has held the crown since his twentieth birthday. Alderic had originally married a woman of the Southern Libaniran noble line, by the name of Helen, but she was unable to conceive a child and, blaming her husband, returned to Libanira to dissolve the marriage. Thankfully, the split proved amicable for both nations and caused no long-term disputes. Layla was a much younger woman with a slender form and delicate nature, who delighted Alderic in his older years. Their marriage was a quiet one of tenderness, but Alderic saw only the first ten years of his son’s life. Another decade of both raising a child and (as far as she was concerned) baby-sitting three Royal Advisors was more than Layla had bargained for. As soon as King Raul came of age, she left him the crown and every power that it held, trusting that he could moderate the palace as well as she had ever been able. She spent much of her later life in Evina, returning only briefly to Kingston for her son’s wedding and the birth of her first grandchild. King Raul took family and friends to visit his mother often, until she fell victim to the plague that ravaged all of Ampany about thirty years into his rule.

On one of the many trips to Evina, King Raul encountered a young woman named Sonija Porter who instantly charmed him. He arranged many trips to bring her to Kingston or himself to Evina (eventually with one or the other of them traveling three times each week) until Advisor Randolph convinced him to propose. The marriage was very happy, though cut short by complications in the birth of their second child. Neither Sonija nor the baby survived, leaving King Raul many years heartbroken and ever after devoted to his remaining son.

Admissions Director Lilian Redmond

Ms. Redmond was born in Evina, though her family emigrated to Western Libanira in her early childhood. Claiming her right as an Ampanian citizen, she was able to attend the Evina School of Science and Magic, receiving her degree in Theoretical Magic (specialization, Rune Creation). She then moved to Kingston and began work as a researcher under then-department head Benjamin Jowett. She has since transferred to the admissions department, in the hopes that she can bring in a larger percentage of students from Ampany’s more remote regions. She has been exceptionally successful in this goal over the last three years, and is also working with the Western Libaniran School for Magic to create an exchange program to bring in international students.
